If you have a little bit of termite damage showing chances are, you have a lot more damage that is not showing. Termites find ways to bury themselves into wood that has no paint or treatment on them. Most of the time wood gets a fungus called dry-rot which is usually cause by water intrusion on untreated wood. The wood becomes brittle and soft and is like a delicatessen for termites. This wood needs to be removed because it becomes a haven for termites. When we remove old wood, we treat all the remaining wood with a preservative called Copper Green. This liquid is actually made with copper and kills future fungus, and termites hate it. When we replace the wood with new wood, we make sure to prime and paint all sides of the lumber and even our cuts to prevent any future damage from ever occurring again. |
